Vasundhara Oswal Detained: Swiss-Indian Billionaire Pankaj Oswal Alleges Daughter Illegally Imprisoned in Uganda (See Pics)

New Delhi, October 17: Pankaj Oswal, a Swiss industrialist of Indian origin, has accused Ugandan authorities of illegally detaining his 26-year-old daughter, Vasundhara Oswal, executive director of PRO Industries. In an open letter to the Ugandan President, Oswal claimed his daughter has been imprisoned since October 1 without trial and denied basic rights, including access to family or legal representation.

According to Oswal, Vasundhara’s arrest stems from a USD 200,000 loan taken by a former employee for which the Oswal family acted as guarantors. After the family refused to repay the loan, the employee allegedly fled Uganda and was later apprehended in Tanzania with evidence of the theft. Despite this, Vasundhara was unjustly accused of wrongdoing, and Oswal claims the legal system has been manipulated to prevent her release. Bhim Sen Kohli Killed in Leicester: Elderly Indian-Origin Man Kicked to Death by Minors in Franklin Park, 5 Arrested For Murder.

Oswal has filed an urgent appeal with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, stating that Vasundhara was interrogated in degrading conditions and held for over 90 hours without access to legal counsel. Vasundhara’s mother, Radhika Oswal, expressed her anguish: “This is every mother’s nightmare. My young daughter has been thrown into a foreign jail, stripped of her basic human rights and dignity. Vasundhara is innocent. All I want is her safety and for her to be back in my arms.”

Vasundhara Oswal is credited with several achievements at PRO Industries, including reducing debt and launching sustainability initiatives. The family continues to seek justice, calling for her immediate release and the restoration of her rights.
