This coming Monday, September 18, the official version of iOS 17 will be released, free of charge and for all supported devices. It was announced during WWDC23, and among all the new features it includes – which are not few – there is one that, for visual and functional reasons, stands out above the rest: NameDrop.
It is inspired by AirDrop, and the idea is to be able to share our contact information (Name) as if we were dropping it (Drop) on someone else’s iPhone. The gesture consists of pointing one phone at the other, and if everything goes well, It will serve so that each one receives the information of the other. In addition, it is also possible to use this method to send photos, videos and files.
In order to use this method, Both devices need to have iOS 17 installed. Otherwise it won’t work. Beyond that, it is also important to activate it in Settings. To do this, you must follow these steps:
- Settings
- General
- AirDrop
- “bringing devices closer together”
If both iPhones have iOS 17, and this option is installed, just bring one closer to the other and wait for it to show us the “receive” or “share” options. We will just have to choose the one we want and see how the process is completed. The animation is the best there is in this new operating systemand from what we have seen, it works very well.
