On Tuesday, October 15, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Centre and the Election Commission of India regarding a plea that sought to classify political parties’ promises of freebies during elections as bribes. Additionally, the court has tagged this petition with other pending cases and urged the poll panel to take immediate measures to prohibit such promises in the pre-election period.
